Week 9--Music's Influence
There hasn't really been a certain time where I personally tried to protect someone from the vulgarity of some songs. BUT, being the youngest in my family with 2 older brothers, I was not aloud to listen to their music. I remember there was a time in the car with my older brothers, and my mom. My oldest brother Tanner wanted to play his music that him and his high school friends listen to. There was a numerous amount of cuss words, with profanity and everything. I remember my mom being mad because I started to repeat the bad words in the song over and over again, and the boys thought it was hilarious which egged me on of course at such a young age.
I was young at the time, but I thought it was all fun and games until my mom got really mad at me because I wasn't listening to her, and was feeding off of the older boys laughing at me.
I love hip-hop/Rnb, country, and alternative music like Maroon 5. I have a very wide variety of music, it kind of just depends on who I am surrounded by, and what type of mood i'm in. I would say my top 5 bands/artists are
1. Maroon 5
2. Chris Brown (his old stuff)
3. Rihanna
4. Zac Brown Band
5. Keith Urban
Campus Radio:
I think a radio station is a cool and fun idea to get going on the campus, if that's what some people are interested in. That is something that sounds difficult for ME personally, being that I know nothing about it... but if the right people got on board and knew what they were doing, it could be hit because people enjoy supporting local college students. The reason why I think it might be difficult for this to be a successful thing is because all the fellow college students that I know or surround myself with barely even listen to the radio these days. We all have our own technology on our phones that allows us to play any song we want that we've downloaded from sources like iTunes, Spotify, Soundcloud, or other sources like that.
Certain ways to fund for themselves are accounts like Go-Fundme, where they can advertise for themselves rather than banking on the school to fund for something like this. Go-Fundme is a great way to let locals know and be aware of what the fellow students are trying to get going around campus. You can advertise it on Facebook, Twitter, etc.
